A new game has joined the Bandidos family! During today’s Indie Fan Fest, our friends at Hilltop Studios revealed Curse of Resthaven, a new narrative-driven roguelike coming to PC, Mac and consoles later this year – published by Digital Bandidos.
In Curse of Resthaven, you play the newly appointed governor of a struggling island colony. In addition to reviving Resthaven’s fortunes and improving the quality of life for its citizens, you also spend your time investigating the disappearance of your niece and the mysterious death of your predecessor.
Seven days into your new role, a cataclysm strikes and Resthaven is destroyed… but the island’s fading goddess sends you back to the moment of your arrival. Now you must exploit this time loop to your advantage, using everything you have learned to uncover dark truths and break the curse.
We are so excited about this game. For one thing, there’s the unique mashup of genres in which you:
- Interrogate the townspeople to solve the many mysteries surrounding Resthaven
- Trade with visiting merchants and use your resources to upgrade the local businesses
- Embark on card-based expeditions into the island’s wilds, building a deck of companion and resource cards to survive unpredictable encounters
- Engage with roguelite systems to improve your chances of breaking the curse every time the loop resets
Then there’s the overall tone: a wonderful blend of eldritch horrors, gothic intrigue and a story inspired by mythology, history and cosmic dread. And let’s not forget the beautiful, hand-drawn graphic novel art style.
Curse of Resthaven is the second game from Hilltop Studios, following the multi-award-winning Lil’ Guardsman – which some of the Bandidos team helped bring to market, so we know what the developers can accomplish.
